I have worked in business restructuring and recovery for more than 25 years after qualifying as a chartered accountant in 1983 followed by a period overseas with a big 4 firm. Prior to joining mlm I was with Baker Tilly for 8 years heading up their Restructuring and Recovery practice in Scotland and prior to that I was a partner in two independent accountancy practices in Edinburgh. I am a Fellow of the Association of Business Recovery Professionals.
My career as a chartered accountant and insolvency practitioner has given me considerable insight into businesses across a wide range of sectors and the demands placed upon directors and business owners. I bring this insight together with my experience to bear in assisting distressed businesses restructure their finances and return the business to profitability. I am a firm believer in the rescue culture and consider that it is only as a measure of last resort that a business should enter into a formal insolvency process.
I am currently a member of the R3 Scottish Technical Committee and a past member of the ICAS Insolvency Permit Committee.
Away from work and when time allows I enjoy curling, sailing, skiing and hillwalking.
