HMRC Delivered Record Tax Revenues in 2014-15

HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) recently announced that a record £517.7 billion in tax was collected in 2014-15 as a result of economic growth and the continued crackdown on tax evasion and avoidance. This is apparently an increase of £12 billion on the previous year.

Should HMRC Settle All Avoidance Schemes to Bolster Tax Credibility or Strike Whilst Iron is Hot?

New measures from HMRC have allowed the organisation to recover over £3.5 billion from apparent tax evaders, however a report from Sir Andrew Park has shown that the organisation may be able to legally, and simply, settle debts. Many have since called for HMRC to resolve disputes in order to tackle other existing avoidance groups and boost the UK’s tax credibility. So should HMRC fold?
