I have over 25 years' experience of insolvency matters and specialise in advising individuals in financial difficulty.

I understand the problems of people who, through loss of employment, illness or marriage breakdown, find themselves 'drowning in a sea of debt'. I try to find solutions acceptable to everyone, particularly where the family home might be at risk.

I have been working in the insolvency industry since 1999 and began my career in the corporate recovery department at PwC in Glasgow. After seven years I joined Deloitte’s restructuring practice and achieved the CPI qualification shortly thereafter.

Over the years I’ve had exposure to both corporate and personal insolvency assignments and have also focused on business development situations. I’m delighted to have joined the Glasgow Corporate Solutions team at mlm where I will assist with development of the Corporate Solutions practice and provide insolvency advice to corporate and personal clients.

I have over 20 years experience in both corporate and personal insolvency, having worked for various firms, including a Big 4. I have dealt with most types of corporate and personal insolvency assignments over the years, recently though, I have focused on the personal insolvency market and I have extensive experience in offering pre-insolvency advice to individuals, sole traders and partnerships. I believe in offering the best possible advice and in ensuring that clients are dealt with promptly and courteously.

My first job after leaving university was with Ernst & Young. I was with them for just under four years, where I trained in the audit and accounts departments before moving into Insolvency. After that I spent five years broadening my experience in such diverse areas as business planning, government body budgets and stock control for housing associations.

I also managed a year in New Zealand, 6 months of which was working on organic farms.

When I'm not at work, I like to spend time catching up with family and friends. I enjoy travelling and visiting beautiful places around the world, and particularly like cooking and reading.

I have been involved in Personal Insolvency for around 6 years now.

I took on the role as debt advisor in MLM in January 2009 and spend my time dealing with potential clients over the phone and face to face, advising on the best possible solution for each case.

When I'm not advising clients, I like to get away from the hustle and bustle of business and into the countryside for a spot of fishing while socialising with friends.

Prior to my role in Money Advice I have seven years' experience of working in financial services delivering financial and mortgage advice and also in compliance.

Before joining mlm I worked for Citizen's Advice and Rights Fife as a Money Adviser training in all aspects of money advice including becoming approved to set up the Debt Arrangement Scheme (DAS).

At mlm my area of expertise is the DAS, which is part of Scottish government legislation to allow debtors to repay their debts over a period of up to 10 years.
